Whatever area you might choose to direct your donation, the College of Engineering would welcome your support.
Engineering Advancement Trust (EAT)
The Engineering Advancement Trust (EAT) was created in 1986 to establish a source of funding to maintain the currency of the College’s undergraduate program and provide assistance with College and student initiatives. The EAT serves as the College’s general trust where all donations through the Annual Fund or the Calgary Campaign are directed, unless otherwise designated by the donor. Traditionally the College uses these funds to upgrade and replace equipment in the undergraduate student labs but funds can be directed to where they are needed most. The EAT is administered by a Board of Trustees comprised of alumni from college of engineering. Each member is appointed by the President of the University, under recommendation of the Dean.
Dean's Fund
The Engineering Dean’s Fund was created in 1998 with a gift of $50,000 from an anonymous donor. It was the donor’s wish that the gift be used as a ‘matching challenge’ to encourage additional contributions to this fund from other donors. The long term objective is to grow this Fund to $1M dollars in order to create a permanent source of funding to support the highest priority needs of the college.
In addition to contributing to the endowment portion of the Dean’s Fund, donations have also been used to provide immediate support to our engineering students. In 2003, the College entered into a formal agreement with the Saskatoon Engineering Students’ Society (SESS) for that purpose. Each year the College provides financial support from the Dean’s Fund to assist student groups and associations that proudly represent the College in pre-professional activities, conferences, and design competitions across Canada and beyond. Strong support to the Dean’s Fund has allowed the College to increase the financial assistance from the previous amount of $12,500 to $20,000 per year.
