The C.J. Mackenzie Gala is known as the flagship event of the College of Engineering. It takes place in January of each year, inviting a very special alumnus of the College to speak. It is held at the TCU Place and is an elegant evening complete with a banquet.

The C.J. Mackenzie Gala continues to be an opportunity for students, faculty and industry to work and learn together. Students are encouraged to arrive early in the evening and develop relationships and ties with industry leaders in attendance. In recent years we have also developed a new seating arrangement that sees students, faculty and industry seated together for the banquet and lecture. This fosters relationships that may last a lifetime.

The Gala also offers student groups a time to discuss and showcase their current projects such as Engineers Without Borders, The Sled Dog ¼ Scale Tractor Team, The Concrete Toboggan, Husky Motorsports, and many others.

Mr. Ron Graham graduated in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan.  That same year he joined the family construction business, P.W. Graham & Sons Ltd. in Moose Jaw, SK.  In 1978 Ron was appointed President and CEO of the company and in 1985, after nearly sixty years of family ownership, employees joined forces with the Graham family to form Graham Construction and Engineering (1985) Ltd. 

Ron was appointed Chairman in 1990 and under his leadership the company has earned numerous awards and recognition.  Today, Graham Group Ltd. is an industry-leading, employee-owned family of companies offering general contracting, project management, design-build and construction services from offices across Canada and the United States. 

Graham Group Ltd. earned membership in Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies Platinum Club, one of this country’s most elite business designations. 

Ron has held senior positions in a number of associations and the College of Engineering is honoured to have him as the 2012 C.J. Mackenzie Distinguished Graduate Lecturer.
