Assignments and Solution Sets

For all circuit designs in this course, standard resistor and capacitor values should be used, and all active components should be identified by part number and manufacturer (where appropriate).  That is, they should be designed so that a technician could be given the circuit diagram and be expected to build a prototype circuit.

NOTE:  All active filter designs should be verified by means of simulation or laboratory results.  One circuit simulation package is ICAP4 which can be found under Electrical on the student sign-on page.  Also look for FilterPro to help calculate component values. Use standard component values. I recommend choosing the capacitor values first and then calculating the resistor values. Choose the closest 1%-value. Do the simulations based on these values, rather than tweaking the component values by including potentiometers or variable capacitors in the design.
