Bioprocessing

Bioprocessing can be defined as the improvement and conversion of biological materials into food and non-food (industrial) products.  Engineering skills include heat and mass transfer in post-harvest handling of crops for feed and for fibre, and for biophysical processing of plants for food and neutraceutical uses. At the present time, we have one major research program within this theme area:

Processing agricultural materials  - grain, forage, medicinal plants, fiber, feed, food, energy, manure, agro-forestry
