Course WorkFor a Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, the minimum requirement is five one-semester (half-courses) at the graduate level. A doctoral candidate must complete successfully a minimum of ten one-semester (half-courses) at the graduate level, which total includes courses that have been taken during a preceding master's program. For admission to the doctoral program, the student must have already met the requirements for a master's degree. For a Master's Degree in Clinical Engineering, ten one-semester (half-courses) are required. Courses to be taken are assigned upon an individual basis in consultation with the Division chairperson and the program supervisor. The thesis requirements of the M.Sc. program are replaced by a residency practicum in a clinical institution. Students with a background in either Engineering or the Natural Sciences are required to take several courses in the Life Sciences. Conversely, students with a background in the Life Sciences will be required to take basic courses in a suitable field of the Natural Sciences or of Engineering. These supplementary courses will generally be taken at the undergraduate level. To compensate, such courses are assessed less contributory weight in the aggregate program. |
