  • Lecture Series Creating Opportunities
    When Professor Emeritus Narendra Bakhshi retired from the Chemical Engineering Department he wanted to provide an opportunity for students to learn about chemical engineering and be exposed to new ideas. His vision inspired the N.N. Bakhshi Lecture Series, a way for students to interact with acclaimed researchers from around the globe while learning about relevant research topics. Bakhshi said “The University of Saskatchewan had been good to me and this was something I wanted to do to give back.”

  • Engineering Students Receive Technology-in-Action Scholarships

    Brahm Neufeld and Mike Ehman, two U of S College of Engineering students, each received a $5,000 scholarship from the Saskatchewan Research Council’s Technology-in-Action (TIA) fund. The scholarships were awarded at a gala dinner in Saskatoon, SK on September 28, 2009.

    Athiann Makuach Garang is an environmental engineering student with a passion for poetry. Athiann was born in Southern Sudan and left home with his uncles at the age of seven to escape a civil war. Arabs from the north had attacked his village and he witnessed the killing of his uncle and the abduction of women and children. They journeyed by night to avoid detection.

    I am delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Jitendrapal Sharma from the Department of Civil & Geological Engineering as Acting Associate Dean – Student Affairs,” said Dean Janusz Kozinski in an announcement released earlier today. The appointment is effective July 1, 2009 and Professor Sharma will initially serve in this new capacity until December 31, 2009

    The University of Saskatchewan was awarded $4.76 million over seven years for three Canada Research Chairs (CRC) and associated equipment that will provide new ways of creating and administering vaccines, lay the groundwork for the next generation of X-ray imaging devices, and develop new and environmentally friendly fuel alternatives.
