Congratulations to the University of Saskatchewan Sled Dogs ¼ Scale Tractor Team! The team placed 4th overall in a field of over 20 competitors at this year’s American Society of Agricultural & Biological Engineers (ASABE) ¼ Scale Tractor Student Design Competition in Peoria, IL , last week, an improvement from its performance last year.

High School students from La Loche Community School arrived at University of Saskatchewan for a two-day educational trip. They visited the various colleges at the university and engaged in meaningful hands-on activities. As a part of an initiative undertaken by the College of Engineering’s Outreach Office, the tour provided the students with information about careers they might not have been aware of before and raised their interest for post-secondary studies.

One of the many goals of the Outreach Office at the College of Engineering is to facilitate access for post-secondary education to all students across Saskatchewan. Under an initiative supported by the Outreach Office in partnership with the Indigenous Peoples Program, tours and presentations are given to students from Northern Saskatchewan to incite their interest in pursuing education after high school.

The 2010 Engineering Innovative Design and Student Paper Competitions was held at Marquis Hall at the University of Saskatchewan on March 24, 2010. For the first time at the College of Engineering, three teams have been awarded prizes for Innovative Design and an additional three teams received awards for Student Paper Presentation Competitions.

has raised approximately $5800 for Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan
and Engineers Without Borders (EWB). Pi-Throw occurs in March during

Brahm Neufeld is the 2010 winner of the annual Kent Phillips Public Speaking Contest hosted by the Ron and Jane Graham Centre in the College of Engineering. The contest is open to both College of Engineering and College of Agriculture and Bioresources students. Brahm is graduating this spring with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He is also a graduate of the Professional Communication Option offered through the Graham Centre. Congratulations to Brahm on his accomplishments!

Google and Apple will be here for the first time to recruit students and have presentations. Others include Vecima, SED systems, IBM, SaskTel, Potash, Point2, zu, Vendasta and others
The event includes both company booths and presentations. Presentations take place in the Thorvaldson Building(room 105) and booths will be set up on the third floor of the Spinks Addition of the Thorvaldson Building. Apple presents at 3 p.m. and Google at 4 p.m.
