  • Campus visit gives Northern Students More Insights into Science
    May 26, 2010
    High School students from La Loche Community School arrived at University of Saskatchewan for a two-day educational trip. They visited the various colleges at the university and engaged in meaningful hands-on activities. As a part of an initiative undertaken by the College of Engineering’s Outreach Office, the tour provided the students with information about careers they might not have been aware of before and raised their interest for post-secondary studies.
  • Students from Northern Saskatchewan Explores U of S Engineering during Retreat

    One of the many goals of the Outreach Office at the College of Engineering is to facilitate access for post-secondary education to all students across Saskatchewan. Under an initiative supported by the Outreach Office in partnership with the Indigenous Peoples Program, tours and presentations are given to students from Northern Saskatchewan to incite their interest in pursuing education after high school.
  • Six teams awarded at Innovative Design and Student Paper Presentation Competition

    The 2010 Engineering Innovative Design and Student Paper Competitions was held at Marquis Hall at the University of Saskatchewan on March 24, 2010. For the first time at the College of Engineering, three teams have been awarded prizes for Innovative Design and an additional three teams received awards for Student Paper Presentation Competitions.
  • 20th annual Pi-Throw raised approximately $5800

    The Saskatoon Engineering Students’ Society (SESS) 20th annual Pi-Throw has raised approximately $5800 for Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan and Engineers Without Borders (EWB).  Pi-Throw occurs in March during Engineering and Geoscience Week.
  • Kent Phillips Public Speaking Contest Winner

    Brahm Neufeld  is the 2010 winner of the annual Kent Phillips Public Speaking Contest hosted by the Ron and Jane Graham Centre in the College of Engineering. The contest is open to both College of Engineering and College of Agriculture and Bioresources students. Brahm is graduating this spring with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He is also a graduate of the Professional Communication Option offered through the Graham Centre. Congratulations to Brahm on his accomplishments!

  • Interim Chair for the Environmental Engineering Division

    I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Yen-Han Lin, Professor of Chemical Engineering, as the Interim Chair for the Environmental Engineering Division. This initial appointment is for the period from March 15, 2010 to December 31, 2010.
  • Saskatchewan at the frontier of renewable energy research

    Agreements between the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Engineering and many prominent institutions in India, including Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, National Institute of Technology in Jaipur, and the University Institute of Chemical Technology in Mumbai have put Saskatchewan in the forefront of renewable energy research.
  • Huff Chair in Innovative Engineering Education College of Engineering

    The College of Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan invites applications for the privately endowed Huff Chair in the field of innovation in engineering education. This is a unique opportunity, as the Huff Chair will be focused on the measurement of excellence in engineering education and its subsequent implementation through innovation. The ambition of the College is to further improve an already highly regarded undergraduate program. With the assistance of both alumni and the private sector, the College has made significant investments in major projects linking the technical aspects of engineering education with leadership, professional integrity, entrepreneurship and communication.
  • Career Fair on February 9th

    Google and Apple will be here for the first time to recruit students and have presentations. Others include Vecima, SED systems, IBM, SaskTel, Potash, Point2, zu, Vendasta and others

    The event includes both company booths and presentations. Presentations take place in the Thorvaldson Building(room 105) and booths will be set up on the third floor of the Spinks Addition of the Thorvaldson Building. Apple presents at 3 p.m. and Google at 4 p.m.
