Lecture Series Creating Opportunities

November 13, 2009

When Professor Emeritus Narendra Bakhshi retired from the Chemical Engineering Department he wanted to provide an opportunity for students to learn about chemical engineering and be exposed to new ideas. His vision inspired the N.N. Bakhshi Lecture Series, a way for students to interact with acclaimed researchers from around the globe while learning about relevant research topics. Bakhshi said “The University of Saskatchewan had been good to me and this was something I wanted to do to give back.”

The first lecture in the Bakhshi Lecture Series was by Professor Harold H. Kung from Northwestern University who spoke to more than 35 students about the advancement of catalysis by design in his lecture entitled Catalysis by Design: Then and Now. His lecture focused on the progress researchers have made towards designing a catalyst, and demonstrated his own laboratory work in this area. The lecture was presented by the Department of Chemical Engineering.
