Computers

There are currently 3 different types of computers located in the various laboratories of the Engineering Computer Centre. The types of computers are described in the following table:

Resource Lab

The Beta Lab (Room 2B06) is a Resource Lab. This lab houses additional resources like (3) scanners, (2) notebook docking stations, CD-writers, a colour laser printer, our larger format colour printer as well as our Help Desk. See our FAQs for detail on using this equipment.

Printers

Wide Format Printer

The ECC help desk provides a wide format printing services. We charge $10 per linear foot for print jobs run on this printer. All payments must be made in CASH or through a University of Saskatchewan account number. Payment cannot be made through your printing account.

The printer is an HP 5500 42" wide, roll feed, colour inkjet printer. You can print jobs as large as 42" by 10'. All Engineering standard sizes from A - F can be printed on this printer.

Laser Printers

The following table describes the laser printers available in the Engineering Computer Centre:

There are numerous costs associated with printing, including paper, toner, repairs, and purchasing replacement printers. As such, there is a charge for using the laser printers.

Additional pages must be purchased in person at the Helpdesk in the Beta Lab. The cost for black and white printers is $0.10/page. The cost for colour laser printing is $0.25/page.

You can check the status of your laser printing account by using PAWS.

The computers in each lab are configured to use the printer within the same room as their default printer. That is, unless you specify otherwise, everything you print will go to the printer in the same room. However, all printers are available to all computers.
